  1. The following bugs are fixed in version 2.2.2 of BBEdit, dated April 7, 1993.
  2.  
  3.     -    BBEdit 2.2.2 includes an updated version of Aladdin Systems’ 
  4.         internal resource compression. This solves several problems
  5.         which were traced to the resource compression, specifically
  6.         crashes when waking up on some PowerBook models and unstable
  7.         behavior in some situations on systems with MacTCP installed.
  8.         
  9.     -    BBEdit 2.2.2 works around a bug in System 6’s MultiFinder 
  10.         memory manager which would cause junk to be appended to the
  11.         end of a text file when it was opened. (The junk was not
  12.         saved to the file on disk.)
  13.         
  14.     -    When double-clicking on text documents to launch BBEdit under
  15.         System 6, with the XTND translation package installed, the
  16.         selected documents would be opened into untitled editing
  17.         windows.
  18.         
  19.     -    When doing a Replace All and no action was taken (i.e. no
  20.         occurrences were found), the front editing window would
  21.         malfunction.
  22.         
  23.     -    In some situations, white blotches would appear in the
  24.         front editing window when dismissing the “Find” dialog.
  25.         
  26.     -    Searching backwards for a one-letter word, with “Entire 
  27.         Word” checked, would cause BBEdit to hang.
  28.         
  29.     -    In the Grep Patterns section of the Preferences dialog,
  30.         clicking on the list of patterns would have no effect.
  31.         
  32.     -    When the Caps Lock key was depressed, the option- and
  33.         shift-key shortcuts for various menu items would not
  34.         function.
  35.         
  36.     -    BBEdit now gives up CPU time when idling in the background
  37.         under MultiFinder or System 7.
  38.         
  39.     -    The “Import” and “Export” commands previously used BBEdit’s
  40.         partition for translation, which limited the size of documents
  41.         that could be imported or exported. BBEdit now uses MultiFinder
  42.         memory for translation, so larger documents can now be imported
  43.         or exported (subject to available system memory).
  44.         
  45. The following bugs are fixed in version 2.2.1 of BBEdit, dated January 16, 1993.
  46.  
  47.     -    When doing a multi-file search of an entire disk with “Search All
  48.         Types”, BBEdit would repeatedly report “File Not Found” errors
  49.         during the course of the search.
  50.         
  51.     -    The “Export...” command would generate invalid MacWrite
  52.         5.0 files.
  53.  
  54.     -    If the status bar was turned off, but “Show Cursor Position”
  55.         was turned on, the cursor position display wouldn’t be drawn.
  56.  
  57.     -    Files with the creator “R*ch” but no saved state information
  58.         would grow resource forks when subsequently opened and then saved.
  59.         
  60.     -    In some conditions, pieces of numbers in the line number bar
  61.         would be left behind when scrolling the text.
  62.         
  63.     -    At random, the machine would lock up while launching ToolServer.
  64.         
  65.     -    BBEdit would occasionally fail to correctly remembered the
  66.         positions of windows after an Arrange... command.
  67.         
  68.     -    After doing a Zap Gremlins with “Filter Line Feeds” and
  69.         “Replace With”, BBEdit would occasionally crash or behave
  70.         strangely.
  71.         
  72.     -    Certain legitimate operations by extensions would cause BBEdit
  73.         to crash or exhibit cosmetic glitches.
  74.                 
  75.     -    When doing a Find & Replace All Matches with “Save To Disk”
  76.         selected and “Confirm Saves” turned _off_, BBEdit would
  77.         crash or behave strangely if an editing window was open
  78.         during the process.
  79.         
  80.     -    An open window affected by a Find & Replace All Matches is now
  81.         correctly saved and updated.
  82.         
  83.     -    Fixed bug in Open Several... dialog in which double-clicking
  84.         a folder alias added the folder alias to the file list, rather
  85.         than opening it.
  86.         
  87.     -    Caps Lock no longer serves as an on-the-fly toggle for Synchro
  88.         Scrolling; this makes it easier to use BBEdit with the Caps Lock
  89.         key down most of the time.
  90.         
  91.     -    Trying to print the Compare Results window would cause BBEdit
  92.         to crash.
  93.         
  94.     -    Cancelling a print job in progress would cause BBEdit to crash.
  95.             
  96.     -    If a file being compared is modified, it will not be marked
  97.         read-only. This avoids the situation of having a dirty read-only
  98.         file; when such a file is closed, no warning is given.
  99.         
  100.     -    The Num Lock LED is no longer used to indicate the mode of the
  101.         numeric keypad. This feature caused spurious crashes and 
  102.         compatibility problems on machines running System 7.1 and
  103.         using the _original_ Apple Extended Keyboard.
